Reading is a joy. It's a necessity. I can't think of much better than spending the day in a comfy chair, reading a wonderful book! Enjoy!

Booking Through Thursday - Sept. 24
What’s the saddest book you’ve read recently?
If we count actual tears, then Dewey, by Vicki Myron, would be the saddest book I've read this year. I do not handle animal stories well, especially when it deals with end of life. Dewey made me cry a lot.
The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold, was sad in a different way. The subject matter was difficult and while the character of Susie was still a vibrant part of the book, every once in a while I'd remember that she was dead and I'd feel so bad for her family.
After, by Amy Efaw was also a sad book. I was so sad for Devon and how quickly she changed the whole direction of her life. I find myself still thinking about the book and wondering what happened next.

Wow! I'll have to look into those. Here is mine
Animal stories can be so emotionally devastating, can't they? That's mainly why I've been avoiding Dewey, even though it's gotten such great reviews. Someday maybe I'll be brave enough to try it, but not right now.
I know Lovely Bones is a sad story but the movie trailer looks more like scary. I didn't get a chance to read it because I was avoiding the hype. Now I re-consider.
Dewey and Lovely Bones are both books I really want to read. Hopefully I'll remember to read them in between some lighter books.
Here's my BTT.
I want to read Dewey even though I know it is sad.
I bet Dewey was really sad. Animal stories make me sad too. The Lovely Bones was a wonderful (and sad) book.
